Call for Public Inquiry

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:30 am by sosren

We believe there should be a Public Inquiry into the direction the McGuinty Liberals have taken Ontario and their citizens over the past year and further regarding passage of the Green Energy Act, The Harmonized Sales Tax  and most recently the Cap and Trade Bill that has just been tabled.

All three of these legislative Acts are the results of a Government who is less than honest and forthright with their citizens.

By approving these Acts this present Government has displayed, among other things:

  1. Conflicts of Interests with Industrial representatives that are now in a position through these Acts to make large amounts of profits at the expense of honest Ontario Taxpayers with no return for those taxpayers except higher costs in living.
  2. Large Scale Destruction of Lands, Properties and Wildlife through unregulated Industrial Wind Generation .
  3. Loss of Health and intentional lack of acknowledgment of Health Issuesthat have been proven to exist because of the above Wind Industrialization in residential areas.
  4. Hostile and argumentative stance with any individual or group who challenges the Government’ actions that result in loss of property values and quality of life due to Wind Generation locations within residential areas of Rural Ontario.
  5. Disregard for the Economic Health of Ontario by raising electrical rates beyond the ability of homeowners to pay for these increases. Along with the homeowners inability to afford these higher rates it is a threat for any new industry to locate in Ontario due to the high costs let alone be the already existing industry that will have to relocate to a cheaper area of the country to operate in a very competitive environment.
  6. Destruction of the Real Estate Market come July of 2010 by adding an additional 32,000 dollars on the cost of a new home that no bank in Canada would offer mortgage coverage on. The Nova Scotia experiment that showed what an HST would do apparently is not a lesson that was studied by our present Government.
  7. Disregard for Good Business Practices by allowing Industrial representatives set agendas for the Government who then uses the Industries studies to write the Laws and in effect accommodating the Industrial strategies over the good of the people.
  8. Removal of Democratic Rights in the dismantling of the powers of individual Municipality’s Planning Acts in order to have total control of any development of Wind and Renewable Electrical Generation.
  9. Removal of Responsible oversight of Environmental Assessments when it applies to Renewable Electrical Generation and the location of large Industrial sitings.

It’s about time this Liberal Government answered for their destructive and mean-spirited actions in the last 3 months which will do unrepairable harm to Ontario for many generations to come.

What is worse is that by allowing unrestricted wind turbine development around residences is the destruction of property values. I understand that struggling farmers are happy to lease their land for turbine use — they need the income to be sure. But this comes at a steep cost to their neighboors in real dollars — property values drop and sales become more difficult. I would have much more respect for wind turbines if the advocates had one in their backyard — vs just wanting ME to have one.

A letter sent to Aim Power Generation, Wind Concerns, all MP’s, MPP’s, Ministries & whoever else will listen!

    To Whom It May Concern:
More people should be concerned with property value associated with windmills adjacent to their homes. Should their health become an issue and they can’t live near turbines anymore, who is going to buy their property?

From Green Backlash: The Wind Turbine Controversy :
As the nation rushes to add renewable energy to its power portfolio, a growing chorus of homeowners and others are expressing concerns about how industrial wind projects are affecting health, safety, lifestyle and property values.
According to Michael McCann of McCann Appraisals LLC in Chicago, Ill., “Turbines are large-scale industrial machines/projects, which surround homes, unlike any other large-scale projects. I have never seen a situation akin to wind farms where an industrial zoning ‘overlay’ encompasses and surrounds existing homes. No other industrial, retail or other type of large-scale project gets approved without first buying out the existing residences rather than surrounding them. A home is the biggest investment most people have in their life and deserves value protection from a dominating land use, which generates profits for the developers and is claimed to be for the public good. It would seem that most wind energy companies are unwilling to compensate people fairly for value loss…nor buy them out.”

According to the GWEC, “the global wind market for turbine installations in 2008 was worth $47.5 billion.” That works out to about $1.76 million per megawatt installed (http://wwwWind Energy Stocks .greenchipstocks.com/report/wind-energy-stocks/397).
At an average cost of $1.76 million per megawatt, you’re looking at a $219.9 billion market-in just the next five years.

I am laid off until February 2010 and I can’t afford the mortgage & tax payments…
I need to relocate and find a new job, but I can’t sell my property…
Because of these windmills surrounding my house, nobody is even interested in looking at my property…
Why is Aim Power Generation reaping in these profits while I am approaching bankruptcy?
Aim Power Generation should be buying me out…
I need this to happen before I lose my house!

This is such a blatant destruction of our Rights as a Landowner that I can’t understand why these Wind Companies aren’t reduced to being “common criminals” and charged with “Assault causing Bodily Harm”! Not only are people’s homes rendered valueless and unlivable but the health problems involving proximity to wind turbines are being completely ignored by an arrogant and Dictatorial Government body. This must be stopped now and to do that we must band together as True Ontarians and get our Rights back which our Grandfathers, Grandmothers, Mothers and Fathers have fought two World Wars to protect!
